Depending on the color variation, these glass earrings are either “capped” or “uncapped.” Capped pieces are made with a layer of clear glass fused on top of the dichroic glass to create a textured, 3D look. Uncapped pieces do not have a clear top layer, which makes them appear slightly more flat and one-dimensional, but also means they maintain a more intense rainbow shine than their capped counterparts. You can tell which are which by the price—capped pieces are slightly more costly more due to the extra work the capping process requires.
