Rainy Day | "Imperfectly Fused" Umbrella Earrings

Oh no! The tops of these “imperfectly fused” umbrella earrings have bits of detritus (debris that has melted onto the glass surface due to improper cleaning of the glass prior to firing) on their surface (see the closeups in photos #3-4). Two of the right earring’s raindrops also shifted during the firing process, merging into a single wonky raindrop. Maybe they’re still worthy of a home, despite their imperfections?



What Exactly Does “Imperfectly Fused” Mean?

”Imperfectly fused” pieces are items that underwent an unexpected change (such as a color shift, movement of a design element, over-softening or under-softening of texture, etc.), during the kiln firing process, causing their final look to diverge from the intended design, and resulting in their failure to meet Glasswork Pixie QA standards. Since their imperfections are often minor, and these pieces are still fully functional, they’re offered at a 50% discount*, hoping to find homes with people who see beauty in imperfection and who prize one-of-a-kind uniqueness.
